Akademi Fantasia?? Or was it Fantasi di Akademi?

Akademi Fantasia, affectionately known to their avid fans as AF has infected numerous innocent souls and crippled 'em souls with intense addiction to watch the show. This phenomenon, we can refer to as "Demam AF".

After watching several clips of the Pelajar Akademi performing live and that stupid Big Brother 4 on CBS, an idea in the form of a curvy french whore figuratively hit my head and helped me created the following groups:

a) The It
b) The Beauty
c) The Ugly Duckling
d) The Sweetness

The It:
this is the most exclusive group there is. Among the requirement to be included in this groups are
1) talents (obvious talent, easily recognized)
2) looks (a nice denture set, bright clear face, radiant smile, Body Mass Index < 30)
3) personality (attitude, style, nuances)
To obtain the membership to the It club, a Malaysian performer must score A+ on all 3 examinations mentioned above, the examination grades are NOT curved.

The Beauty:
This group set a very high requirement on the looks. Great personality would definitely be a plus. To be fair, a membership to this club means that you really do NOT have talent...or your talent were taken by the God (or diety if you're a pagan) in exchange for your looks. Some scholars created a subgroup and name it Bimbo

The Ugly Duckling:
This is the 'Greek Tragedy' of 'em all. The talented and pleasantly warm individuals, these individuals suffered huge drawbacks because they LACK sex appeal. These individuals are usually great performers, if only the audience will go beyond the looks and ready to embrace the TRUE talents.

The Sweetness:
This group is dedicated to those who don't have enough talents neither looks but survive on being innocent, naive, stupid and diabetically sweet. Being a Sweetness may require you to act like a fool and really exude that aura of silliness. There are individuals who are crafty enough to portray the appearance of stupidity while executing clever scheme to defeat their competitors.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you are selected to be a contestant on a reality-based shows...always beware of these kinds of competitors. Regardless of what show it is, knowledge always take you further than you expected.

Berbalik ke Akademi Fantasia, only a bunch of 'em can sing, what a waste.

Jokes

THE SETTING: A Scottish old timer (Jeremy Saxton at 65) in Scotland, in
a bar, talking to a young man. "Lad, look out there to the field. Do ya
see that fence? Look how well it's built. I built that fence stone by
stone with me own two hands. I piled it for months. But do they call me
Saxton-the-Fence-Builder? Nooo.."
"Then the old man gestured at the bar. "Look here at the bar. Do ya see
how smooth and just it is? I planed that surface down by me own achin'
back. I carved that wood with me own hard labour, for eight days. But do
they call me Saxton-the-Bar-builder? Nooo..."
Then the old man points out the window. "Eh, Laddy, look out to sea. Do
ya see that pier that stretches out as far as the eye can see? I built
that pier with the sweat off me back. I nailed it board by board. But do
they call me Saxton-the-Pier-Builder? Nooo..."
Then the old man looks around nervously, trying to make sure no one is
paying attention. "But ya fuck one goat..."

The Aftermath

Biggest upset of 'em all. Detroit won Game 5 and took the coveted Larry O'brien trophy with their dominating perfomance against the *mighty* Lakers.

1st Quarter
Determined to win Game 5, Kobe started off hot and constantly attacking the board. Devean George and D.Fish got into the act continue pushing the ball to the board, something they haven't done in a while. The aggressive play of the Lakers however matched by the intensity of Pistons defense. During most of the 1st quarter, Kobe did most of the damage as a distributor rather than a scorer. At one point, the Lakers were up by 3 points. However, the effectiveness of the Pistons in running their pick 'n' roll really frustrated the Lakers D. Combo of Billups + Hamilton on the Pistons backcourt really exposed the Lakers' guards tardiness. The Lakers guards were too slow and often got burned by their Pistons counterparts. On the frontcourt, Pistons big men were too athletic for the Lakers big. Shaq + Medvedenko + Walton were too slow to prevent the pick 'n' rolls. Pistons however, committed critical turnovers that prevented them to take over the game completely. Quarter ended with score 31-31 (or sth like that).

2nd Quarter
Started off slowly, Lakers kept pushing the ball..unfortunately, rash of turnovers and LA players missing their defensive assignments really killed the team momentum. And then, then Big Ben Wallace took over. Big Ben who went 5/5 in the halftime scrambled for loose ball, pulling down offensive rebounds, harassing Kobe and the Lakers big men. Rip Hamilton started doing his job: backdoor cut through screen and left his man (namely Payton and Fisher) 3 steps behind. Pistons kept doing their bread-n-butter backdoor cuts over and over again.

Halftime, Pistons up by 10 points. I logon to my MSN messenger and got a msg from *somebody ....."alahai, tengok aaa 2nd half nanti. mesti Kobe take over nyer aa. C'mon aaa, mesti Pistons penat and then Kobe take advantage"....

3rd Quarter
Too bad, Lakers started the 2nd half poorly. Committing turnovers after turnovers, missing consecutive shots and doing jack-shit of standing waiting for the ball...dude move your damn asses and go get the fucking rebound. Lakers surrendered the lanes to Pistons penetrations and gave Big Ben and Tashyaun Prince soo many offensive boards. In a span of 30 secs, the Lakers big men: Medvedenko and Shaq gave up Big Ben 2 off. boards. The last one he 'iced' with a huge put back dunk. The Palace went crazy!. Less than 10 minutes into the 2nd half, audience already knew who the winner is. Pistons were up by 15 pts. The game is practically over. Pistons got both the momemtum and the score. The highlight of the quarter or i might say the sign of the momentum shift occured at (3:22) Lakers down 55-72. Shaq got the ball down low..right in front of the rim, did some post up move and let fly a soft hook shot over Rasheed Wallace, ball right onto the rim.... suddenly Big Ben came from nowhere, jump so fucking high and swatted Shaq's shot at it's highest point.....whack!!!....The refs however spoiled the goddamn highlight by ruling that Big Ben guilty of goaltending. bitch!. didn't matter though. Coz the goddamn arena already went wild. It's just a bizarre satisfaction when watching both Malone and Fisher's disbelieved/surprised faces. The quarter ended with Pistons up by 23 pts....23 fucking points!!!

4th Quarter
The victory is Pistons'. Darko "Human Victory Cigar" Millicic came to play in the dawning minute of the quarter. Pistons won 100-87.

MVP: Chauncey Billups. (i voted for Big Ben Wallace)
Larry Brown the first coach to win both NBA and NCAA championship.
Larry Brown the oldest to win the title for the first time as a coach.
Phil Jackson first loss in the NBA finals.
Darko and Okur with a combined 3 seasons of NBA have more championship ring than Malone and Payton combined.....reality always entertains me.

Pistons Desire

Lakers future, wtf?

Hollywood infatuation with the Lakers finally got rude awakening by the heavily bawah-anjing Pistons. Motown ending, indeed.

Media Hype

En route to Game 5 of NBA Finals, all of the US media outlets had been buzzing about the supposed biggest upset of NBA Finals history.

The Lakers, even when it wasn't as reloaded with stars as of the current team have had HUGE followers among the sport commentators. From the era of Jerry West to Kareem A.J, to Magic to Shaq-Kobe, Lakers had been a star team. The glitter of Tinsletown, the outrageous antics of "superfan" Jack Nicholson, the flamboyant celebrations, the neverending media hype.....you name, Lakers own it. Lakers had more jerseysretired than any other teams in the NBA with the exception of Boston Celtics and Portland Trailblazers. If the NBA Finals were to be judged by popularity, Lakers would have won the title against the Pistons by a heck of landslide.

Alahai, mesti Lakers menang punya laa....takkan aa starless Detroit tu buleh kalahkan a team with 5 Hall of Famers, kan?

Unfortunately for Lakers, Pistons prefer to play the game before yielding the victory. With the exception of Detroit media, more than 90% of the US media predicted Lakers would win it all. Now that we are on the verge of witnessing how 90% of the US media got it wrong, it's fairly accurate to depict how this NBA Finals may be the biggest upset there is.

There are a lot of coverage on Piston's coach Larry Brown, the true Master of the Game. He coached the Spurs prior to the hiring of his mantee, Gregg Pop.

On Game 4: Lakers vs. Pistons at Auburn Hills

Good game...for 55 mins, by then...the Pistons already stole Game 4.
Plenty of defense from the Pistons, there were comparisons between Bad Boys 84' Pistons and the current Pistons but those are just media hype. Though the current Pistons have good D-fense parallel to those of the 84' Pistons, the Bad Boys were far more physical and aggressive....but that really didn't matter, coz they made the Lakers their bitches.

And they have the outright authority to do just that.

Lakers are a bunch of cocky s.o.bs, especially their head coach. The Lakers weaknesses especially their vulnerability against Pick and Roll had been exposed...completely. The Lakers we watched in the 4th quart of Game 4 were helpless. I couldn't be happier on their losses after seeing my fav. Spurs got beaten by that 0.4 sec ILLEGAL shot.

Game 5 will be on June 15 Tue. Some Lakers-lovers are optimist that their posterboy of bball will finally bring their A game...yeah right...Perhaps, David Stern the Commy will sternly direct the refs to blow more whistles (superpun intended)...he did just that after Spurs won game 2 of the WC semifinal against his fav Lakers, and it was never the same afterward. If the Pistons won Game 5, they will be the first Eastern Conference team to win the NBA Finals for this decade... Amazing feat for a bunch of hardworking, starless journeymen.

Out of curiosity, how many ppl actually paid attention to the commentators/announcers during the Finals?

good gracious, Al Michaels and Tom Tolbert are the two most disgusting, Lakers-ass-licking commentators/announcers i've ever seen. The "...it's amazing to see the Lakers now, after seeing all the drama..." and "...It's just amazing how 2 Hall of Famers agreed to sacrifice their salary..." lines were just ... bias crap. Mr. Michaels, if the Lakers lost the Finals....please go back to your study and read about other NBA teams. Don't come back, coz you suck.

Midwest Games 2004

On Logistics

the registration mechanism of MG2004 was a lot better than the previous one. Everything went smoothly, they even have ppl manning the booth 'till late. Talking about dedication, ehh. Learning from last year's lodging fiasco, MG committe decided to cut a deal with the college's dormitory management and persuaded them to provide lodging (not free) for the participants. Smart move!

On Games

The competitions are decidedly tougher than last year's. Last year, we only have 2 proven scorers on my bball team, yet we managed to win 3 out of 5 games. This year, we have a solid starting 5 (including Serih), and yet we only won 2 games. Hats off to NU indoor soccer team, rookies with gold medal...good job. Other than that, the overall quality of competition for each sports except soccer (tak byk team) improved dramatically.

On MG2004 Dinner

Romantic (read: sweet but inpractical) idea of having the dinner outdoor. Unfortunately rain swept all the sweetness of the idea and turn the Dinner Committes into fools. sorry Dinner ppl, it's not you...it's the weather. I felt sorry for my MG2004 friends who had to pick up all the chairs from the open field in the middle of the rain. Dahlaa sejuk lak tu. Your dedication do impress me.

The evening perfomances + videos + foods were great. The evening ended earlier than last year's dinner. Partly because of VIP's request. We didn't need no stinking VIPs to make the night memorable anyway. borak ngan member sampai bosan.

it's been a while since my last post. I don't really have time and interest to continue blogging.
So, why continue now?
because i have abandon blog long enough and it's time to pick it up and ride it on.

Also, i don't really have much going on. My Texan/American friends are busy with their interns and all.

And, there is Ija. I really shouldn't say anything about this chick, but then she is there like this blossomed flower..radiant and inviting. Maybe not in a sensual way, but she is pretty damn attractive. Old flame re-burn? perhaps.
